Special/Hardware Related Modules

You can expand the software functionality with the following special modules:

32ch Quasar detector

This hardware driver enables you to use all spectral channels for simultaneous acquisition of fluorescence signals. Spectral resolution can then be set between 2.9 and 34.4 nm. Depending on the settings the acquisition is performed in one scan (8,6 nm or higher) or in sequential scans (below 8.6 nm). This imaging setting is available as LSM Lambda mode.

Without the hardware driver, the lower spectral resolution 17.2 to 34.4 is not available. The Lambda scan is always executed in sequential scans with one scan per spectral channel. This is significantly slower, and the sample is exposed to light more often and potentially bleached.

With the hardware driver the number of channels per LSM confocal track is 10, not counting Airyscan and NIR detection channels. Without the hardware driver, you can only define a maximum of 6 channels per track in LSM confocal mode, not counting Airyscan and NIR detection channels. This limits the possibility of acquiring multiple channels combined with channel unmixing procedures. Such imaging approaches can be very useful for imaging multiple fluorophores with overlapping emission spectra.

Coded Microscope

This module enables ZEN lite to receive microscope settings from coded manual instruments, display the information in ZEN lite and save it in the image files. Moreover, Coded Microscope enables illumination control from ZEN lite.
