Results with Direct Processing

Using deconvolution with Direct Processing may deliver different results than processing the image with the function on the Processing tab after acquisition. When processing the image offline with the Processing tab, the PSFs of all channels are stored in a single image document, with the maximum boundaries for all channels. When processing the image during acquisition with Direct Processing, each PSF is computed independently with its own boundaries. In Direct Processing, there is also no knowledge regarding which channel will come next or the maximum size of the PSF.

Deconvolution can be done either by using the computers CPU or by using a graphics card. Using a graphics card can speed up deconvolution processing quite dramatically. A NVIDIA graphics card is required which supports the CUDA processing library. Contact your sales representative for further details about supported graphic card models.

For a detailed overview of all deconvolution methods (and its combinations), see Deconvolution Methods in ZEN. This method allows you to use and individually configure 4 different algorithms for deconvolution (short DCV). Two tabs are available for detailed configuration:

  • On the Deconvolution tab, you can select the desired algorithm and define the precise settings for it, see Deconvolution Tab.
  • On the PSF Settings tab, you can see and change all key parameters for either generating a theoretically calculated PSF, or selecting an experimentally measured PSF, see PSF Settings Tab Deconvolution (adjustable).
