If you select to also create a xml file, the image export generates two files, one contains general information about the image, the second contains the image metadata. Both xml files have a distinct naming, depending on which format you have selected in the export.

The long format naming for the xml files includes the file type suffix in the xml titles as well as metadata for the metadata xml, the short format naming for the xml files excludes the file type suffix from the xml titles as well as shortens metadata to meta for the metadata xml.
