1. Each acquisition block can be seen as its own independent single experiment with its own individual settings.
  2. Each experiment block can have its own dimensions (e.g. channel settings like exposure time, active camera, camera parameters; Z; T).
  3. If an objective change is required, create a separate Execute block for this change.
  4. Focus strategies are block specific as well.
  5. You can change the order of experiment blocks via drag & drop in the experiment timeline.
  6. Special actions that influence the course of an experiment are performed with a special block.

Parameter

Description

Mode

Only visible for Celldiscoverer 7.

Standard

Selects the standard mode for designing your experiments. The parameters are described below.

Multi Carrier

Selects the multi carrier mode which allows you to define experiments for the individual carriers of a multi carrier insert. For the descriptions of the parameters, see Experiment Designer (Multi Carrier Mode).

Import

Opens a dialog to import a block from an existing experiment.

Export

Opens a dialog to select which experiment blocks you want to export to the file system.

Create

Creates a new block of the currently selected type. Clicking on the arrow opens a dropdown to select which type of experiment block you want to add. Each created block is displayed in the Timeline of the experiment below the buttons.

Create Acquisition Block

Adds a new, empty acquisition block to the experiment timeline.

Create Delay Block

Adds a delay block to the experiment timeline which pauses the experiment for a predefined period. After that period, the experiment continues automatically.

Create Wait Block

Adds a wait block to the experiment timeline which holds the experiment in idle status until you click Continue Experiment. This can be used for adding a solution or changing the buffer of the specimen. A message box is displayed when a wait block is reached.

Create Execute Block

Adds an execute block to the experiment timeline to execute a selected hardware setting.

Duplicate

Duplicates the selected block and inserts the newly created block after the last block.

Delete

Deletes the selected block from the timeline.

Properties of Block

Displays options for the currently selected experiment block.

Delay

Only visible if a delay block is selected.
Sets the delay with the slider or input field. The delay is displayed in the block.

Synchronize with Preceding Blocks

Only visible if a delay block is selected.
Activated: Reduces the duration of the delay block by the measured execution time of the preceding blocks.

Wait

Only visible if a wait block is selected.
Defines the message that is displayed once the wait block is reached.

Execute

Only visible if an execute block is selected.

If Sequential is activated, the experiment continues while the hardware setting is executed. If it is deactivated, the experiment waits until the hardware setting was executed.

Clicking opens the options for configuring and selecting the hardware settings.

If a hardware setting is selected, the Go! button is active. Clicking this button applies the selected hardware setting immediately.

Loops and Repetitions

Only visible if Show All is activated.
Displays options to define loops and repetitions, see Loops and Repetitions Section.
