FAQ

What ports need to be publicly available and do I need to configure my security software/firewall?

arivis Hub DMS consists of several different services. The clients communicate with most of the services directly. There is no central proxy service funneling the communication, so the majority of the services must be available to the clients. The services listen on different ports of the network that you have configured in the arivis Hub Setup, i.e. either the default ports, or the ports you defined yourself (e.g. for security reasons or if the default ports are already used by other applications). All the services are designed to be exposed to the public in a safe way, assuming you have a proper certificate installed and the https protocol is activated in the arivis Hub Setup.

The arivis Hub Setup configures the Windows firewall during the installation by adding the required rules, so there is usually no action required from your side. However, if you are using additional firewall products or security measures, you might have to configure them yourself to prevent the blocking of necessary ports.

The services required for the clients are:

  • Application server (default port 8081)
  • Management server (default port 8088), optional, only if required

What happens to files on arivis Hub DMS if a user account is deleted?

If a user is deleted, the images and documents uploaded to arivis Hub DMS are not deleted and remain accessible. The files only have no valid owner anymore, i.e. there is no user that by default has all access rights to the images and documents. All users that belong to a group with the privilege to see all documents have access to the files of the deleted user. In the default configuration, the administrator group has this privilege.
