Some basic functionality for physiology experiments is generally available in the software, but the full Physiology (Dynamics) functionality requires a license.

Basic functionality

The basic functionality is available for time series images and time series with z-stack images opened in the software (excluded ZEN lite), or multi-positions (scenes) where a full time series is collected sequentially at each position (Full time series per tile Region). Note that for acquiring time series images, you also need the license for the Time Series module. The functionality generally available in ZEN includes:

• Using the MeanROI offline functions to specify user-defined measurement regions (ROIs) after acquisition of your time lapse experiment and analyze their time-dependent changes in intensity.
• The functionality to display the intensity curves in charts or export the values in the form of tables.
• Definable switches for online annotations and change of acquisition speed. Pausing and refocusing are possible via a live camera view.

Licensed Functionality

If you have licensed this functionality and activated it under Tools > Toolkit Manager, the additional functionality includes:

• The option to calculate online/offline (during/post acquisition) ratios and display a ratio image.
• Additional display layouts and analysis functions (ROI tracing etc.).
