Measurement

This module enables you to measure morphological parameters of interactively defined contours, like area, orientation angle, perimeter, diameter, center of gravity, radius of circle with equal area, shape factor, bounding box, projections, etc. The free configuration of all interactive measurement tools displays desired parameters in tables, lists or graphs. You can measure intensity values for rectangles and contours and have the option for interactive measurement in online images.

Using Interactive Measurements

  1. You have opened the image where you want to add measurements.
  1. Go to the Analysis tab and open the Interactive Measurement tool.
  2. In the Feature Subset section, click Define.
  3. A dialog opens.
  4. Activate all the measurement features you want to be able to use for interactive measurements.
  5. Click OK.
  6. The dialog closes and the selected features are available for further definitions.
  7. In the Feature Set section, click Define.
  8. A dialog opens.
  9. In the Available Elements list, select the graphical element for which you want to define measurement features.
  10. The already defined features for the respective element are displayed in the Selected Features list in the middle.
  11. To add an additional feature to the currently selected graphical element, double click the feature in the list on the right, or select it and click .
  12. The feature is added to the element and is displayed in the Selected Features list.
  13. Repeat the previous steps to define the features for all graphical elements you need.
  14. Click OK.
  15. The changes are saved and the dialog for feature selection closes.
  16. In the Measurement Sequence section, click Define.
  17. A dialog opens.
  18. In the Available Elements list, double click the elements you want to add to the measurement sequence.
  19. The elements are displayed in the Selected Elements Sequence list in the middle.
  20. Optionally, you can also add additional features to the currently selected element of the sequence by double clicking the feature in the list on the right.
  21. Click OK.
  22. The changes are saved and the dialog for sequence definition closes.
  23. Click Run.
  24. The dialog for interactive measurement execution opens.
  25. Click Start.
  26. You enter the drawing mode.
  27. Go to the image and draw the graphical element.
  28. The first element of the sequence is drawn into the image and added to the table on the left. The values are displayed in the image according to your previous settings.
  29. The second element of the sequence is automatically selected for drawing.
  30. Continue drawing all elements of the sequence into the image.
  31. Click Stop.
  32. You exit the drawing mode.
  33. Click OK.
  34. The dialog closes and the image with measurements is displayed in the 2D view of ZEN.
