Form

In the Form workbench, in the Form Selection tool, forms are provided, see Form Selection Tool.

  1. To select a form template for Grain Size Analysis, click
    .
  2. The Open Template dialog is displayed.
  3. Select the form template.
  1. The Operator will select the desired standard. The completed form and the selected standard will be displayed in the report.

Loop

Iteration of all working steps within the loop definition.

  1. Select the number or range of loop iterations.

We recommend not to change the default values.

The operator will not see these settings, see Loop Settings Tool.

Load Images

Loads one or multiple images from the file system.

Set whether the operator shall have an option to navigate in the file system to load the files. See Load Image Tool.

Validation

Default: Run silent.

If the image is missing the scaling information, a message is displayed. Specify whether the operator may ignore this message, see Check Scaling Tool.

Image Processing

The Operator can perform improvements on the image by changing brightness, contrast and/or gamma, see Brightness/Contrast/Gamma Tool.

Grain Size Analysis (Intercept)

Load the desired measurement pattern for the use by the Operator. See Load Setting Tool.

Frame Setup

Setup the desired measurement pattern for the workflow, see Frame Setup Tool.

Image Segmentation

The intersections with the grain boundaries and the selected pattern are detected.

  1. As an Operator, to start the detection, click Auto.
  2. To optimize the detection results, adjust with the Threshold slider.
  3. Activate Dark Grains for dark field images (grain boundaries are displayed white).
  4. Note: If you activate the Center of Grains, the center of the grains will be used as measurement points instead of the intersections with the grain boundaries.

Interactive Image Segmentation

Set if the Operator should have the option to adjust the segmentation results, see Interactive Image Segmentation (Intercept) Tool.

  1. As an Operator, correct the detected (or not detected) interceptions interactively. Remove wrong intersections by clicking on the individual red marker. To add a new intersection, click on the desired position on the pattern line.
  2. In the tool window you get a first result of the expected grain size number. If the minimum recommended number of the required intersections according to the standard and pattern is reached, a green dot is displayed. A red dot indicates that the minimum number is not reached.

Measurement Data

Default: Run silent.

Displays measurement data results for the grain size after segmentation and image analysis.

The Measurement Data tool displays the grain size analysis results. In the center screen area, the image with the selected pattern and the intersections is displayed. In a table, the data are listed.

Grain Size Analysis (Intercept) - Results

Displays the grain size analysis results containing the original and the analyzed images. You do not need to configure anything for the operator in this step. See Result View and Grain Size Analysis (Intercept) - Results Workbench.

Reports

Creates a report document. All selected standards and methods are considered.

After performing the workflow, you have the following options:

  • Save and Close
  • Save and Repeat
  • Close Without Saving
  • Repeat without Saving

See Reports Workbench.

For information on the intercept method, see Intercept Method.
