Grain Size Analysis (Comparison)
Form
In the Form workbench, in the Form Selection tool, forms are provided, see Form Selection Tool.
- To select a form template for Grain Size Analysis, click
.
- The Open Template dialog is displayed.
- Select the form template.
- The Operator will select the desired standard. The completed form and the selected standard will be displayed in the report.
Loop
Iteration of all working steps within the loop definition.
- Configure the number of loops for the tasks.
- Sets the working steps for the operator, see Loop Task.
Load Images
Loads one or multiple images from the file system.
Set whether the operator shall have an option to navigate in the file system to load the files. See Load Image Tool.
Note: Within one job run it is not allowed to change the magnification or to use images with different magnification. Only use images with the same magnification and of the same image size.
Note: For DIN EN ISO 643 (2024) the following applies: When the Operator runs the Job, the Software checks the magnification of the image. In case the magnification is other then the default value (100x), the image is recalculated. In the Statistics view, both tables with G values are displayed, see Image Selection Tool. In the Report, only the table with the applied magnification value is displayed. Only this table is archived.
Validation
Default: Run silent.
If the image is missing the scaling information, a message is displayed. Specify whether the operator may ignore this message, see Check Scaling Tool.
Image Processing
The Operator can perform improvements on the image by changing brightness, contrast and/or gamma, see Brightness/Contrast/Gamma Tool.
Grain Size Analysis (Comparison)
In the Comparative Diagrams Setup tool, set up the image comparison with the chart series from a standard.
- To select the standard the operator will work with, in the Comparative Diagrams Setup tool, select Grain Size Analysis and specify whether or not the operator may select other standards for comparison.
- The corresponding comparison charts will be loaded. The Operator can choose charts in different sizes, depending on the selected standard.
See Comparative Diagrams Setup Tool.
As an Operator
- In the Comparative Diagrams Setup tool, in the Size drop down list, select the size of the chart. For a better comparison, in the Display drop down list, you can select more than one chart.
Grain Size Analysis (Comparison) - Results
You do not need to configure anything for the operator in this step. See Result View and Grain Size Analysis (Comparison) - Result Workbench.
As an Operator
- Depending on the charts you selected, the software calculates the distance between the largest and the smallest G index from the third loop onwards. In the INSTRUCTIONS field, you will receive a message indicating whether and if, how many loops you need to run through in order to successfully complete the analysis. To load more images, click Continue.
- You go back to the Load Image loop.
- Run the loop until you have loaded enough images for the analysis. This might be up to nine images.
- In the workbench area, you have the option to exclude an image from the analysis. To do so, hover over the image and click Exclude.
Reports
Creates a report document. All selected standards and methods are considered.
After performing the workflow, you have the following options:
- Save and Close
- Save and Repeat
- Close Without Saving
- Repeat without Saving
See Reports Workbench.
For information on the comparison method, see Comparison Method.
